Measurements

The Measurements section of the patient record stores standard measurements taken during clinical exams. Using the patient’s sex and age at the time of measurement (computed based on recorded date of birth in the Patient information section) these parameters are automatically translated into quantiles and growth curves are plotted instantly based on entered values. Abnormal values are recorded as standardized phenotypes using the Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO), and automatically added to the Clinical Symptoms and Physical Findings section. For example, if a patient has an abnormally small head circumference, microcephaly will automatically be added to their HPO profile.

For PhenoTips Enterprise instances, an administrator may have enabled measurement entry in both metric and imperial units, in which case users can switch between the two using a dropdown menu displayed at the top-right of the section.
