In this section of the family record you can enter an external family identifier and select the “Warn about sensitive information when opening this family’s pedigree” option. Once selected, you can describe the nature of the sensitive information in a text box below.

If the pedigree is defined as containing sensitive information, PhenoTips will mask the pedigree thumbnail so that it is only viewable from within the pedigree editor. Before opening the pedigree, a warning message will appear with the description of sensitive information you entered in this section.
